Saturday: using my wires I found it very difficult to get through the wall
of European stations.
Sunday: at midday I walked two miles to the QTH of D44AC. Walking is a part
of my weight-losing program. Carlos, D44AC, has an impressive station: a
200W FT1000, ACOM2000 amplifier, BigBoy rotator and a 3-element Tribander.
However, when I turned the rig on, the SWR was high and even though I could
hear some stations, no one could hear me. Most likely the connection at the
antenna is broken. The tower is not easy to climb, so I walked back to my
apartment and tried to find a quiet frequency on 28 MHz. On 21 and 14 MHz I
could only hear strong European signals, almost nothing from North America.
The propagation is not always so good here. The D4C team complained about
this after thr CQ WW 2013
After the carnival, which starts tomorrow, we will try to fix the
antenna-coax issue at D44AC. There is a man who helps the D4C guys with
their antenna repairs and installations, he can easily climb the tower of
D44AC. Hope to show up from his QTH in the CQ WW WPX.

In spite of having a station I could not afford, D44AC is not active. His
call sign is used off-contest by some members of the D4C group.
