There have been many messages and photos posted on Facebook
since the news of Alan's passing first appeared there two days ago.
Some of his friends from as far back as Cleveland High School have
posted photos on Facebook. I first met Alan at a meeting of the Southern
California VHF Club in 1968. In the mid-1970s, he lived in Montalvo, on
a hilltop near Ventura. Yes, he did host a meeting of SCCC there. He
also operated VHF as well as HF contests there and guest-operated my
VHF contest station in those days.
Later he moved to Northern Calfornia and on to Utah and then Wyoming.
After his wife Eileen passed away, he began to travel more. A highlight
was a trip to China with a group including his sister. There are many
wonderful photos on Alan's Facebook timeline.

That's K6QPH with
modern call signs. I operated a county hunter's
contest alongside Alan from the Paramount ARC club station
in a police station basement during my very young years.
