Dick & All,
Seems we all had our times and experiences with Alan.
Mine started with QSOs with KH6EVT in the 60's while he was in the Navy. Then later when he lived in San Pedro, I think, when met at SCDXC meetings. I do remember traveling to Int'l DX in Fresno and sharing rooms with him. He loved to drink and stay up until 3 - 4am. Remember, we all did that back then...
Later when my wife and I moved to Ventura, I got to know him and his family well. Both Kris and Daryl played with my two daughters, even though they were a few years older. And Dick, W6TKF then, I remember his big Quad. Do you remember too when it came down during a hard winter storm? During one CQWW contest, Alan took me up to the N6DX station which started a 15 years involvement with the guys there.
After Alan and family moved to the Bay area, we visited a few times on vacation, but never saw them in UT or WY. Two years ago however, Alan wanted to attend the Visalia DX Convention and needed a room. Like old times, we buddy up. He still enjoyed staying up into the early morning, and came in hours after I had gone to bed.
Bet Alan is looking down at us with his big grin and saying, see you all later...
RIP Alan, we all miss you, and your WY mult!
Ray,

PS, I don't do facebook. Does anyone have an email or phone number for his son Kris? I'd like to let them know that we enjoyed knowing his father, and mother too.

Wow - sure sorry to hear about Alan's passing. I first met Alan when he
lived in Montalvo - Ventura area. We lived a few blocks from each other
and I would go over and get tutored regarding contesting. I was just
getting into contesting in those days - late 70's. Always friendly and
ready to help. Alan had a hugh 2 Ele quad up at the time if I recall
correctly. And as several mentioned always ready to pass along a greeting
in the contests!
RIP my friend,
Dick - W6TK
