Bruce here had a good explanation for why trying to format one's
email is futile.
I still, however, did not receive my own posting.

Hi Bob,

While your desire to format your e-mail is admirable, the fact is
that each recipient's e-mail client formats the incoming e-mail
as individually configured. The sender has no control over how
plain text e-mail content is formatted at the receiving end.

There is a practical advantage to receiving your own posts.
When I first joined this club and its reflector, I tried to
format my contest reporting so thatthe numbered columns would
line up appropriately (using a monospaced font)
the paragraph spacing was open and of my choosing
I even try to take into account how it would look on a smartphone
screen with a more narrow presentation than on a computer
I tried to make it pleasant to look at and easy to readI first
created a template in Word and even in Notepad then in WordPad,
but noticed (this was when I WAS receiving my own posts) that the
formatting got changed as it transitioned into a sent email. I
even attempted to control my paragraphing with nothing but a
period (.) on an empty line. (I did NOT change its color to
white, however.)
Well, I haven't come up with a sure-fire template yet. I guess I
just wasn't persistent enough in working on it. It seems my
monospace font (Consolas) gets changed into something else as it
goes through the system. So, things are not easy.
I am submitting this as a sole post--not as a continuation to a
thread.
Let's see if I can see it!Fingers crossed. Click Send.
