I am sorry that I couldn't attend as we were celebrating Mother's Day
yesterday. It sounds like it was a great meeting.

I have to comment about remote operation. I agree that it is a great
solution for those who cannot put up antennas at their residence and set up a
remote operation at a location in their vicinity. K6NR comes to mind.
However I have a very sour taste for those that live in the west and use the
W2RE remote base to enhance their 160m standings. At VP9 this year I got a
call from K6SIK who gave me 599NY and then sent me a QSL with his Cal QTH on
it and no mention of a remote operation.

During the ARRL 10 Meter Contest I got calls from a YO4 and a 3Z station
when we didn't have propagation to Europe. Obviously it was a remote
operation without signing portable at the transmitter location.

Maybe I am not keeping up with the times but these types of remote use seem
 unethical to me.

*There was a fascinating discussion of the pros and cons of remote
ham radio operation. Some cited horror stories about stations
signing a call sign from a different continent than their transmitter site
during a contest, with no indication of that fact. Others noted that
remote
operating can be a solution for those who cannot put up antennas at
home.
