I vote to stay with our red badge.
You can spot another club member
a block away at an event. It also
stands out as not just another drab
badge.
Plus, I already have one!

Gentlemen and ladies, I have taken delivery of a badge from the ARRL
approved vendor (not that we have to go with that but...) and the quality is
outstanding. It's an official ARRL badge and is multi-color with a logo and
special striping. This vendor has provided me some discount pricing. They
also have several attachment options versus the good old standard safety pin
fastener. This will allow you to pick your poison in that regard.
The SCCC badges available years ago were much simpler: red background with
yellow lettering. Your first name and call letters formed the bottom 2/3 of
the badge in large bold characters. Above that was "SO. CALIF. CONTEST CLUB"
in smaller, not bolded lettering. These definitely stood out from the other
clubs and I think that they still do. The red badges I've seen of late have
white or black lettering.
I have input from one or two of you indicating a preference to remain with
the classic badge for ease of identification at ham fests and conventions.
I'd like to get input from others before finalizing the order process. Shall
we stick with the classic badge or shall we make color options available? If
you don't know what the classic badge looks like, click on the link below
to see W6KY's badge. We may go with rounded corners versus squared just to
modernize slightly. Alternatively, if one of you out there is a graphics
designer and has something special in mind, please email me privately with
ideas, suggestions, or even better, a mock up.

Many of you responded that you are interested in getting an SCCC badge and
our President, N6AA has given me the green light to spearhead this. I have
pricing from an ARRL approved vendor that does their official badges (one of
many) and will be checking in with a local-to-me vendor as well. Also, I
have an order in with the ARRL vendor and want to see his quality before
approving him for SCCC badges. More to follow so stay tuned.

Is anyone in the club still the point of contact for SCCC club badges?
Is there anyone out there wanting to have one?
I have one myself but if any of our members don't and would like one, I can
probably help point in the right direction and/or even get a small discount
on some if enough were interested. I can post or email a picture of the one
I have if anyone is interested. I would call it an "official vintage" one in
that I ordered it through the club back in the 1980s.
