[SCCC] SCCC Meeting at N6HC, Santa Ana on Saturday, March 19

Here is your invitation to the next joint meeting of the Southern
California Contest Club and Orange County Radio Group to be held on
Saturday, March 19,  2016 at 1:30 PM at the Hotel California (N6HC) at
10931 Hunting Horn Drive, Santa Ana, California 92705-2499.

Our featured speaker is Art Goddard, W6XD who will tell us about his
experience at Ascension Island in the South Atlantic.Ascension Island -
South Atlantic Outpost

Many of us have worked Ascension Island, ZD8, but what does the place
actually LOOK like?  Definitely you wouldn't go there for the cuisine or
nightlife, but there are other attractions.  And the island is changing
slowly with the creation of Green Mountain National Park and renewed
emphasis on conservation and the planned formation of a marine sanctuary.

March speaker, Art Goddard, W6XD/ZD8G, will take you along on a 2015 CQWW
contest expedition to Ascension Island.  Tune into this program to get a
feel for the place that has been pioneered by contesting greats like Jim,
N6TJ/ZD8Z, Oliver, W6NV/ZD8W, and Marko, N5ZO/ZD8O.

Dick Norton, N6AA, will bring us up to date on the Contest Club status and
what’s new at the League.

Tim Goeppinger, N6GP, will enlighten us about the latest information
regarding the NPOTA (National Parks on the Air) operating event and how he
activated several sites.
