I reached the Mt Waterman summit Saturday morning, got an adjustable inverted bee hung from a tree,

set up the KX1 and suddenly it was 18Z. A few SOTA CQs generated nothing so I opted for the contest.

K6NA was the first to hear me. I logged a total of 22 contacts from AK to NY, all with one watt, and all on 20 meters.

WQ6X was the only other CA station worked. KH6LC was loud but I never found Lloyd CQing. K0RF was rock crushingly loud

holding court on 14026.

A short burst of activity was enjoyed on 14063 running SOTA chasers, sixteen in all.

This was my first time carrying radio on my back. Lots to learn.

Hanging the antenna was easy. I was able to stand on a rock and tie the feedpoint assembly to a branch.

73,

David N6AN

P.S. It was gratifying to see a number of N6AN RBN spots when I returned to connectivity-land.
