Decided to try contesting from the family cabin up in the Idyllwilld
area--on the west (wrong) side of the mountain but at 6,000 feet. The
altitude didn't seem to help. Never really got a decent run going, though I
called CQ the whole time and stayed on CW. It certainly was comfortable for
an expedition and an informative experiment, but learned that the location
is definitely not a contest location--maybe for the All Asian DX Contest
some day! Nice to have the CI1AAA answer my pipsqueak CQ! Ah, but like the
worst day fishing...
