I got to my remote shack late and I got caught up doing a bunch of cable 
re-routing on my operating desk. I almost skipped the contest entirely, 
but I decided to compromise and do the last two hours. I started out on 
40 meters at 0200 UTC, made 1 QSO, and then noticed there was something 
wrong with the amplifier. I spent the next 15 minutes slowly coming to 
the conclusion that I was probably limping on a single tube. I decided 
to proceed at reduced power which was around 500 watts on 40 meters and 
900 watts on 80 meters. My operating chops felt rusty, but I am glad I 
stuck things out as 80 meters was fun.
