I have a spare AB-577 which I would like to sell. It has everything you need to get to 50 feet and only need a rotator and yagi antenna. You can check it out at www.ontariosurplus.com to see the parts.
It comes with eight tubes but I have added two tubes (five over five) to get to sixty feet. It will easily support most tribanders and I have used one AB-577 to support a Cushcraft 40-2CD.
I need to get $1000 for the entire system if picked up in Lone Pine. I will deliver it 200 miles (or so) for an additional $100. I can add one or two tubes with clamps for $80 each.
The elevator is 95 inches long and can fit in a pickup with an eight foot bed.
You need to install screw-in anchors 30 feet from the base of the elevator and that is by far the hardest part of the installation. I raise and lower my antennas by myself as long as it is fairly calm.
I have been using these systems for at least 15 years and they are really worthwhile as they can be used temporarily or permanently and probably don't need any kind of permit process. (Disclaimer, I am not a lawyer.) And there is no climbing needed other than mounting the rotator and antenna at the top with a ladder. I have found it useful for tuning an antenna by being able to raise and lower the antenna to 20 or 25 feet and making adjustments.
I have also used the 60 foot version as a support for both an 80 meter and 160 meter sloper antenna below the yagis.
I will be glad to discuss using one of these even if you don't purchase mine. I love them. (I own seven!)
