If you are a members of AMSAT or you know others who are, be aware that the
board election process has started, and the choices on the ballot are about
as clear-cut as they come. Three non-performing incumbents need to get the
boot, and three well qualified challengers, Robert McGwier, Howie DeFelice
and Jeff Johns need your vote and those of your AMSAT-member friends.

AMSAT desperately needs a majority of directors who act like grown-ups, who
understand accountability and transparency for donated funds and who take
compliance with the law seriously. The behavior of the incumbent directors
on the ballot and their cronies is a major reason that the ARISS program
(Amateur Radio on the International Space Station) broke from AMSAT and
formed a separate corporation. ARISS and its donors could no longer rely on
AMSAT to manage the donations sent for ARISS projects in a way that met
donor expectations..

If you'd like to look under the hood, I can recommend this posting by Bruce
Perens K6BP, founder of the Open Source Initiative:
https://perens.com/static/AMSAT/Election2020.html.

If you are an AMSAT member, please vote for Messrs. McGwier, DeFelice and
Johns. Please forward this message to your contacts who are AMSAT members,
too. This may be the last chance to finish the job of righting the sinking
AMSAT ship that last year's two successful challengers started. Although
voting is open through early September, the ballots are already starting to
arrive, so time is of the essence in getting the word out.

73,

Marty N6VI
