I love SS CW and its crazy long exchange. Definitely better at it
than I used to be. Really enjoyable event. Worked from home at 100 W
(after swearing off QRP after CQP.) Interesting to compare the
results with power and poor location (mountain top at 60 degrees on
compass) to qrp and OK location (not best horizon at 60, but not too
bad either.)
Band changes were interesting. Homebrew cap hat 26' vertical and a
telescoping dipole for 15 or 20m on a 28' mast. Both used the same
guy lines, but raised one or the other depending. :-) Rig was
KX3/KXPA100/ATU. Played with APF for the first time while bagging VI.
Didn't work all the peak propagation hours I could have. Bands were
hopping. 15 was productive. Lots of S&P. Several not productive
attempts at running. Got a sustained run of 60 q/hr for a while late
Sunday on 20m, which was very good. Homebrew contest logging software
worked flawlessly for run & S&P.
I'd copied 12'oh' for WC7Q. Hope that was 120. Weird, because I
never learned to shortcut O for 0. Maybe that's what he sent or ???
Thanks SCCCers for the Qs.
