[SCCC] WPX Rule Change Poll

Hi Dan,
Depending on whether CQ WPX log handling rewrites the Cabrillo header in submitted logs to match official categories or leaves them as submitted, the scores for unassisted entrants could be extracted from the public logs and scores after the WPX official scores and logs are published.
Relative to possible changes in other contests, I think it's important to understand how rule changes for CQ-sponsored contests occur. There's been a lot of speculation on the cq-contest reflector, but we've never heard a description of CQ's process. Although some contesters are frustrated by the ARRL's bureaucracy, the fact that it's a member organization with contest branch staff, overseen by the PSC, advised by the CAC, all of whom are responsible to a board of directors, means there's more process behind rule changes and someone to address suggestions/complaints to at a variety of levels.

Subject: Re: [SCCC] WPX Rule Change Poll
Hey Axel,
This is also something I am very passionate about. The problem isn't just
that WPX has this rule in place, it's that the other contests will now
follow suit most likely in the near future.
1. I oppose the change
2. I will operate less because of the change
One thing I have been thinking about is coming up with a solution to
continue on with the unassisted category outside of the contest sponsor.
I haven't figured out the logistics yet, but someone could create a group
that would handle plaques and score listings etc.
Bud has made it very clear that he doesn't care about public feedback.
His response has been that he knows what he is doing and if your opinion
is different you are wrong. There are other high profile contesters that
are backing him and his decision and I really don't see him
changing anything at this point.
