2020 ARRL Sweepstakes - CW
Call . Op / Station: N6VI
Class: Single Op HP
QTH: LAX
Operating Time (hours): 11
Club: Southern California Contest Club
QSOs: 230 Sections = 72 Total Score = 33,120
Comments: Just handing out contacts but got sucked into the fun, even using
my roof-level dipoles. I worked my last band-state, Maine on 80m, for 5BWAS
(actually 6-band, as I already have WAS on 6m). It was a pleasure to hear
so many sharp operators, including nearly fifty with checks in the '50's and
nearly 100 licensed in the years before I was.
2020 ARRL Sweepstakes - PH
Call . Op / Station: N6VI
Class: Single Op HP
QTH: LAX
Operating Time (hours): 9
Club: Southern California Contest Club
QSOs: 239 Sections = 68 Total Score = 32,504
Comments: Just got on to hand out contacts and found many lonely callers.
Same low dipoles as for CW; maybe they were an advantage for working
locally; I got all sections in the western U.S., including the elusive ORG
(K6TLH) and SB (N6JB and W6TK).
I missed many more Canadian sections this weekend compared with two weeks
ago.
There were a few stations with really poor audio, either muffled or
compressed to the point of unreadability. There were stations who never
used phonetics and then complained of getting dupes. On the plus side,
there were plenty of sharp ops with good signals and good ears.
Thanks to all for the contacts.
73,
Marty N6VI
