Most of my activity was focused on trying to work a couple DXCC
countries in Europe that would have been new for me on 160 meters. In
reality conditions to Europe were so poor for me on both nights, I never
got passed trying to hear those stations when they were spotted. I had
to settle for listening to stations to the east of me working what I
presumed to be the station who was spotted. I was hoping I might get
lucky with a sunrise peak, but if there was a peak, it took signals from
less-than-nothing up to just plain-old-nothing. I did briefly hear a
station in the UK (GM5X?) about 339, but not really good enough for an
honest QSO. In contrast to the poor propagation toward Europe, I was
just sitting in front of my computer with the rig on while I was doing
something else Saturday night and all of a sudden ZM4T started calling
CQ with a really impressive signal. There were good signals from JA
coming through as well. I really miss that no sunspot solar minimum
propagation on topband.
Sunday afternoon, I passed out a few QSOs with my low dipoles. I don't
think I will be winning a plaques :-)
