Comments: My main antenna is out of commission so I threw up a 20 meter
dipole, or more accurately, an inverted U and the plan was to do 20 meters
only. I discovered though that my WARC band antenna tuned up fine on 15 and
10 meters. And I felt like I did pretty well on 15. Nice, quiet conditions.
10 meters was noisy and I never copied a single signal. I decided to go
barefoot this time due to the antenna situation (plus I wasn't excited about
heating up the shack warmer than it already was with the warm outside temps
here this weekend [95+]). My goal was actually 100 Q's with what time I had
for the contest, so finishing at 190 put a smile on my face. Kudos to KI6RRN
for trying to move me across the bands and modes (as he usually does) but my
limited antenna situation and wanting to do CW only made that a no-go. He
did try to move me to 10 meters but that was before I discovered I could
tune my WARC antenna to 28 MHz. The predicted SFI of 95 did not materialize
and we got 87 instead. Hard to complain about that at this point in the
sunspot cycle but disappointing since the prediction was for 95. That said,
I had a good time and enjoyed watching NT6Q (N5ZO) chase and overtake N6E
(W9KKN)on the contest scoreboard.
