Comments:

Three hours into the contest we lost power to the house.  Thank you PG&E
Solar power to the rescue, we thought. We were up and running on battery power
until 4PM. The battery kept faulting and every time we
re-booted and a  minute later we crashed.  A few hours later after disconnecting
all heavy loads we were were back on the air. Very frustrating start to an enjoyable
contest.
Our new switching system for rigs worked great. Band Pass filters and mechanical
coax switches.  Need to learn when to switch to 80 and even check 160 now and then.  Looked at 10M a few times but never saw any activity.  Should have called CQ. 1060 Q's total but a few dupes from stations that wouldn't understand that we worked before.
I was on CW for the most part and Alan on SSB.  I also made a few Q's on SSB. The last 30 minutes was a real rush on 20M CW.
A lot of fun operating 80M away from home. Had a surprise call from a DX station on 15M from France.  His call was F6COW.  We had a good laugh.
