I've known Paul since the '70s when his call was WA6EJL and we were both members of the Mission Trail Net, a 75 meter traffic net.  Over the years, he and I have often been toe-to-toe in contests as LP entries, especially in CW Sweepstakes. But his butt-in-seat time always exceeded mine, and hence he usually won!  And he did this in virtually every contest you can think of, including some you do NOT normally think of, including JIDX, BARTG, etc.  But he read a lot of books while slogging his way through various contests!  It was always fun to read his post-contest reports which included the books he finished, or was working on!I cannot imagine how many contest awards he has accumulated, or if he even cared.  But he was a competitor!I recall him mentoring his Grandson Dylan who I'm pretty sure got his license. And for years Paul would drive Harry W6YOO (s.k.) to San Diego DX Club meetings, month after month, because Harry could no longer drive. RIP and 73, my friend!Jim K6ZH Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone
