I am sorry that this post is so late. I was sick early in the week, and didn't know if I would be in shape to rove this weekend. I'm better, but not 100%, so I am taking it very easy with 2 grids a day, rather than 4.
I don't know about you, but I look forward to each of the VHF contests, and the ARRL June VHF is my favorite. Saturday 11AM 1800Z to Sunday night at 0300z (8PM). I will be roving again, this time in the common 4 L.A. basin area grids. As usual, I will be on the 4 low bands as a Limited Rover (6, 2, 222 FM, and 440).
I plan to start the contest in DM03 at Signal Hill. I should be there 11AM to maybe 2PM. I will finish the day at Schurr High School in Montebello DM04 for the rest of the afternoon.
Maybe I will do some DM13 from my driveway in the evening if there is an opening.
Sunday morning I look to start in DM13 in Diamond Bar around 9AM. I will move to another Diamond Bar location for DM14 late in the morning until noon, then that will be the end of the contest for me, due to a conflict.
Lets try to kick the contest off well the first 2 hours by contacting each other on 6 meter SSB in the range of 50.125 and 50.140. We can QSY to 2 , 220 and 440 to "run the bands". This way we won't get bogged down on FT8 with its slow rate. By the way, there is now an Analog Only category this year for single fixed ops for those that don't do digital. For 2m and 440, I prefer FM, rather than SSB. I will see you on 146.52, and .55 simplex and 446.0 Simplex, vertically polarized. I will still check 144.200 and 432.1 occaisionally too. 223.5 is the FM simplex channel on 222.
I am hoping for more activity this year over last June, but with gas prices up, I expect the number of rovers to be down, with shortened routes. Please look for Levi K6JO/R who will be roving in the greater L.A. Area on Saturday. Remember, a rover can be worked each time they are in a new grid. Levi and I will appreciate the contacts.
I think my APRSDroid app is working again, so you can track me again on www.aprs.fi<http://www.aprs.fi>
Look for our friend Javier XE2CQ in Tijuana who will be on 6m, 2m, 440 and 1.2 GHZ from DM12 this contest. A couple of callsign changes to look for: Bruce KG6IYN is now AG6X, and Jon K6LDQ is now NT6E.
It often takes over 1 hour drive time and setup between grid changes. Be patient. Hope springs eternal for 6 meter openings, but I'm not counting on it. It did not open much at all last year during the June Contest.
The competition is fierce in the Limited Rover class, and any QSOs you can send my way would greatly help. Breaking news today: I finished 2nd place nationwide in the January VHF Contest. Your QSOs made this happen! Thank YOU!

Tnx & 73, and see you on the VHF Bands tomorrow!
