Hello All,

We have a DXChat system in Southern California that has been running since
2015. It accommodates both voice and texts. SCCC and SCDXC are welcome to
join the group that already uses the system. There are already several of
the members of the clubs using the system.

To access DXChat you use the Mumble client software, which is available
free. You can contact me directly at my QRZ.com email address, and I will
forward the connection and login information. For those registered users on
the GUNsHub Website, the connection information is available at:

https://gunshub.ddns.net/index.php?r=content%2Fperma&id=1092

On DXChat we announce DX, and during pileups, we call out QSX info in
real-time. There are channels for:

DXChat (where the DX announcements happen)

General Chats (for general discussions)

TechSupport (for helping others setting up their equipment or solving
problems)

I agree with Bruce. There may already be message board or chat group set up
for HF DX. In fact, I would hazard a guess that there IS. If you are
suggesting that it be "localized" to SoCal, yes, as Bruce mentions, checking
with SCDXC would be a good start. If one doesn't exist localized to SoCal,
Slack is indeed a good option as is Discord. Both are real time chat boards.

Slack, for example, is used very effectively by the VHF FFMA chasers
nationwide and there are separate "channels" on it for more localized and/or
specialized conversations on the VHF subject.

Something similar may already exist on Slack for HF DXing and possibly even
for SoCal DXers. I've just never looked into it.

Since this seems more about having DX-related discussions than contesting,
what mailing lists, groups and/or chats has the Southern California DX Club
set up? I haven't been a member in decades, but I know many SCCCers are also
SCDXC members.

Hi Steve:
A Slack group / channel would be the answer to what you're looking for.
It's easy to setup. I can do it for the group (as I'm sure could others).
I just don't think I should be the administrator for that.
It may even be possible to setup a Slack to SMS forwarder for those that
want to opt-in to getting DX text messages.

Yes, he did come back but I think to "K6YH?", and asked for confimation;
then that idiotic W9 jumped in so he went back to him, He was just coming up
to Q3 when he QRT.

I worked someone signing 9N7AA several nights before the contest (obligatory
contest content 8-) but at the time, he was so loud that I became convinced
he was SL1M. Now, I'm suspecting he was legit since he sounded just about
like the other night, he eventually became nearly as loud tonight, and his
fist sounded like the other night. ( I can't easily rotate my 160m inv "L"
that I use on 28 right now, so it's tough to pinpoint directions of
signals). I guess I'll have to check OQRS to see for sure... I wonder where
he was during the contest, did anyone hear him?? I worked JT1CO during the
test on 28 (REALLY loud, as he tends to be the last several years on ANY
band) but he had his customary aurora flutter and didn't really sound like
9N7AA so I don't think they were the same; but maybe??

*I think we need a message board or group of some kind.*
