While at Visalia this weekend, I was shocked to learn that Joe Cadwallader
K6ZMW, passed away on Friday.  He had even registered for the convention,
and we were looking forward to an eyeball.

 

I have no news about any services, but please post here if any of you learn
about arrangements.

 

Joe was an early and tireless advocate for 1296 MHz weak-signal activity,
and he was a reliable contact in the VHF contests.  I had the pleasure of
having him join one of our June VHF multi-op efforts on Frazier Peak and of
traveling with him to one of the M^2 gatherings several years ago. I also
enjoyed having Wayne N6NB interview Joe about 1296 propagation on camera at
my first house back in the '70's.  Of course, he was wearing his "1296
spoken here" polo shirt for the occasion.

 

Joe was always smiling, always upbeat and perpetually enthusiastic about
weak-signal work and being around his radio friends.  I feel so fortunate to
have known him.

 

RIP, my friend.
