Soapbox: Conditions were horrible, and we got to over 110 degrees both
days here in the desert. I heard somebody on SSB over in AZ early on
144.2, but he didn't deign to stoop as low as to call me on CW (assuming
he heard me CQing, in the first place, which he should have). Also
saw/heard people on 144.240 from time to time coming from the west
(LA/OR areas) but by the time I tuned up there, they were gone. I never
saw anything at all on 6 meters but then, I never tuned above about
50.125. Judging by some spots I saw, apparently, some folks think it's
OK to CQ on CW on 50.125 but being from the old skool, I was always
taught that was a complete and strict no-no, so I won't do that. But
I'll gladly CQ on and around 144.2; we used to do it all the time when I
was misplaced on the east coast.
