Here are the N6MI contest plans for June VHF contest.
The June VHF contest is scheduled for this weekend, 11:00 a.m. June 8 (Saturday) until 7:59 p.m. on June 9 (Sunday), Pacific Daylight Time. This seems early because we have an extra weekend in June 2024.
On Friday and during the contest, I will camp in the N6MI van (n6mi.com) on Frazier Peak (DM04ms) — about 500 feet from the San Bernardino Microwave Society beacon (10,368.310). Thanks, SBMS, for keeping the eternal flame on these bands.
If Tom can make it, I will be joined by K6VCR. He and I have operated many VHF and low band contests from the van. (The next time to you see in Tom in person, ask him about the time we camped on an underground beehive in the Mojave Desert near Alvord Mountain. The buzzing was not just on the bands.)
When you work a station, exchange your four-character grid square. For me, "DM04." You don't need a signal report.
You can find grid square maps on the internet. I like:

On 6 meters, I will run CW (50.095 plus or minus), USB (50.125 calling frequency and up), and FT8 (50.313). I will use the Yaesu FTdx101D plus an Acom amplifier for up to 500 watts. I have FM if you need it (50.3, 52.525, 52.540).
On 2 meters, I will use the Icom IC-9700 (100 watts of CW and USB on the 144.200 calling frequency and up) and all local FM channels (including 146.565 FM). I may run a few digital modes. AC6V (https://ac6v.com/callfreq.php) lists the FM channels as 146.400, 146.415, 146.430, 146.445, 146.460, 146.475, 146.490, 146.505, 146.535, 146.550, 146.565, 146.580, 146.595, 147.405, 147.420, 147.435, 147.450, 147.465, 147.480, 147.495, 147.510, 147.525, 147.540, 147.555, 147.570, 147.585. I would add 146.520. Some of these channels might violate the local band plans; watch for comments from our SCCC members this week and respect their suggestions. I am often on 146.565 FM (the transmitter hunting frequency in Southern California).
I will use a Kenwood handheld on a whip (5 watts) on 223.5 FM, if you are a local ham.
I will use the Icom IC-9700 (75 watts) on 432.100 (CW and USB) and up. I will drop by 446.000 FM from time to time.
I will use the Icom IC-9700 (10 watts) on the 23 cm band, 1296.100 and up. I will drop by 1294.500 FM from time to time. I might be able to run 30 watts, but that old amplifier has been sitting on the shelf for a while. We shall see.
I will set up the IC-905, but I am a novice on this radio. If you want to work me on these upper bands, call or text me at (213) 924-9294. Yes, other hams are permitted to call me before or during this contest.
13 cm band, 2,304.100 CW and USB. Maybe 2,305.200 FM (1/2 watt).
5 cm band, at 5,760.100 CW and USB (1/2 watt).
3 cm, 10,368.100 CW and USB (1/2 watt)
Thanks for the contacts -- past, present, and future.
73,
J. Scott Bovitz
