I got on Saturday night around 6 PM local and called CQ to get a "rate 
fix", but my eyes were itching so bad that I gave it a rest after an 
hour's time. I got back on around 9 PM local and did some S&P for about 
an 40 minutes. Conditions were pretty good at that time, but I had a 
headache which was sucking all the joy from it, so I went to bed. I got 
on again just before 1100 UTC and put in another 40 minutes. It seemed 
like there was a fair amount of east coast activity at that time, but 
conditions had really gone down hill compared to earlier, so very few 
people could hear me (even stations in the Midwest were weak). I stopped 
until just after 6PM and took a final crack at it. I managed to work a 
half-dozen JA stations. Right around sunrise a very loud station called 
me which I figured was going to be someone in California or Arizona (he 
sent my call three times before sending his). I about fell out of my 
chair when he signed 9M2AX :-). Earlier in the evening I had been 
wondering if Ross was still active, so I was really happy to get an 
affirmative answer.
