I'm glad I started looking at the equipment a couple of hours before the
contest. fldigi wasn't communicating well with N3FJP. glitches popped up
a few times during the contest and I had to edit contacts in N3FJP for
frequency, band and mode a few times.
Made 52 contacts, about half what I had in February. Lots of signal fading
at the beginning resulted in gaps while waiting for propagation to come
back.
Tried sending CQs several times with no answer, so my results were all S&P.
Turned RF power down to 40W to keep the Z-100 Plus happy. The manual that
came with it doesn't say that, but the one that is found online says 30W on
digital modes. Conversations with LDG didn't explain that. At least I
haven't yet burned it out.
Started on 20 meters, switched to 15 after the first hour. Less fading, but
just as sparse as far as signals go. 40 was mostly other California
stations until near the end of the contest.
