Strange, indeed! My experience was plenty of JAs, especially today, with
lots of SA and Caribbeans ripe for the picking. However, although the
SAs were strong enough to work Saturday afternoon, I could not get
through to most of them then; not true today. What amazed me were the
Europeans who called me very late today; AFAIR, Europe used to fade out
after about noontime in the olden days. Heck's Bells: I could even
very-weakly hear some of the Europeans who were working SAs on 10m all
the way through 3 or 4 pm both days. I almost cried when I just could
not get through to a fairly-weak 5Z4A... 8-(

And I only had my 160 meter inv L fed with an antler tuner, while you
had a beam!! Odd......

40m, though... THAT was a real oddball. So much multipath and so many
echoes that some JAs were hard to copy at times. 3W9A was showing over
S7 on 40m and easily copiable between the storm crashes on 80m; yet, I
never managed to get through to him. Very few W/K's were calling him,
too. I used an AL-811HD with four 572Bs running off just 1350V under
load (extremely low plate voltage for 572Bs), producing maybe 550W on
10m but closer to 700+W on the other bands.
