Comments:

10m looked to be a good single band choice, since it may not be much fun 
next
year. All was OK until I woke up Sunday morning. The K was 4 and signals 
from
Europe were very weak, coming from 90-120 degrees. S2-S4. Uh-oh. The polar
path never opened. It was a struggle to hear most of them, but the real 
problem
came mid morning. Two power poles lit up with terrible S-7 noise. One was at
30 degrees. The other was at 300 degrees. Both poles are about 300 ft. 
away. All I could hear were Caribbean, CA and SA, with difficulty. I 
spent latemorning and afternoon hunting
  for the noisy poles and turned them in. Oneintermittent one had 
already been
  sent for repair by SDG&E. I spent the morning doing chores and 
watching the
finals of the Olympics. The best part of all was a 2 hour JA run on 
Saturday
afternoon. Friday night was great on 40m to Europe.    Jim
