Hi All,

The January VHF Contest is just a few days away! We’re looking at perfect weather—sunny, 80 degrees, and no wind. Here is my plan for the weekend:

Operating Schedule & Locations

I’ll be active as a Limited Rover (6m, 2m, 222 FM, and 440). Remember: you can work me again every time I change grids!

Saturday: DM13 (Summit House, Fullerton) → DM04 (Monterey Park)

Sunday: DM03 (Signal Hill) → DM04 (Diamond Bar)

Track me live: Search N6GP-10 on aprs.fi.

The Strategy: "Run the Bands"

To maximize our scores and avoid getting bogged down in slow FT8 local contacts, let's focus on the first two hours:

Start on 6m SSB (50.125 – 50.140).

QSY to 2m, 222, and 440 to "run the bands."

FT8 should be a secondary option for local contacts.

Frequencies to Watch

6m: 50.125 SSB | 50.095 CW | 52.525 FM | 50.313 FT8

2m: 144.200 SSB | 144.195 CW | 146.52/55/58 FM | 144.174 FT8

222: 223.5 FM

432: 432.1 SSB | 446.0 FM

Keep an Eye Out For:

Austin (DM02): Possible rare grid activity from San Clemente Island.

Other Rovers: Listen for Roger (K6LMN/R) and Endaf (N6UTC).

I know the NFL playoffs are on, but I’d appreciate any contacts before the games, at halftime, or between matchups. Let’s leverage our high operator density and show those East Coast hams what we can do!
