K3S SPE 1.3K DXLog 2.6
Antennas: On three AB-577 masts
80- West Sloper and East Sloper
40- 40-2CD at 60 feet
20- 3 el yagi at 60 feet
15- 4 el yagi at 60 feet
10- Broken A3S at 40 feet stuck north
I didn't plan to use my broken A3S (director missing) on 10 meters. I had
a 3 el 10 meter yagi placed on the boom of my 40-2CD. I had checked
it out and everything seemed good. On the very first contact attempt it
was obvious that there was a feedline fault and it was unusable. This
really limited my participation on 10 meters and cost me at least 20 mults
that other southwest stations got.
The rest of the station worked well. I was able to get the antennas
raised on Wednesday morning before the wind came up which would
have made it impossible to raise the antennas before the weekend.
I thought conditions were generally poor. Eighty meters was more like
160 meters with very low activity and weak signals. Fifteen meters was
just great but ran out of stations to work. I felt that JA activity was
low
this year.
Despite these conditions it was a lot of fun.
