The IARU HF Championship takes place this weekend, from 1200 UTC
Saturday 13th July to 1200 UTC Sunday 14th July. There are
CW-only, SSB-Only and Mixed-Mode classes, and you can see the
rules at http://www.arrl.org/contests/rules/2002/rules-iaru.html

Here's how to setup SD.

Select Type 3 - IARU HF
IARU LZ YU : I
Next Page? : Y
Mode : CW or SSB
Mixed-Mode? : Y or N (your choice)

If mixed -
Mults count on
both modes? : N (once per band only)
Work same station
  on both modes? : Y

Work everyone, all bands 10 - 160m, exchange RST + ITU Zone.

Note: IARU HQ Stations will give their Society Initials instead of
Zone. Some societies have 5 characters, but SD (in common with
some
other contest loggers) lets you record a maximum of 4 characters.
Don't worry, you will not lose points because of this.

This year, the World Radio Team Championship (WRTC2002) is taking
place in Finland. Look for the new OF prefixes from Finland. If
your copy of SD does not recognise OJ as Finland, please download
the latest country files from http://www.ei5di.com/sd/cty.zip.

The WRTC organisers would like to get your Cabrillo log (SDCHECK,
Option 4) IMMEDIATELY after the contest to help with checking the
results. Send your Early Bird log (OJ QSOs only - delete the
others) within 6-hours from the end of the contest to qualify for
attractive prices - to logs@wrtc2002.org

The OJ calls will be:

OJ1C OJ1F OJ1M OJ1N OJ1S OJ1W OJ1X
OJ2F OJ2H OJ2J OJ2Q OJ2V OJ2Y OJ2Z
OJ3A OJ3D OJ3N OJ3R OJ3T OJ3X
OJ4A OJ4M OJ4N OJ4S OJ4W
OJ5A OJ5E OJ5M OJ5T OJ5U OJ5W OJ5Z
OJ6C OJ6E OJ6K OJ6N OJ6W OJ6X OJ6Y
OJ7A OJ7C OJ7M OJ7N OJ7S OJ7W OJ7X
OJ8A OJ8E OJ8K OJ8L OJ8N OJ8W

Use SDCHECK, option 4, to create your .LOG file in ARRL Standard
File Format (Cabrillo). Edit this file if necessary, then rename
it to YOURCALL.LOG where YOURCALL is the call you used during the
contest.

Send your file as an email attachment to IARUHF@iaru.org by 13th
August.

SD operational note.

Be careful if you have Log On Enter enabled. You can check this
with the STATUS command and toggle it On/Off with the L(OGONENTER)
command.

When LOGONENTER is enabled, SD will enter the default zone for the
callsign entered and log the QSO immediately you leave the
callsign field. For USA calls, the default zone will often be
incorrect. If you leave the callsign field with Space Bar rather
than Enter, you will have the option to change the zone before the
QSO is logged.

If you're in any doubt, set LOGONENTER to Off. This way, you'll
always be taken to the Zone field when you press Enter after
typing the callsign. Just a reminder that Enter is the
recommended key to terminate data entry in all fields - unless
you've good reason to use
another.

If you're operating CW, please try the AUTOCW option. When it's
ON, you can call CQ (your F1 message) by pressing Enter in an
empty callsign field. When you type a callsign and press Enter,
the full exchange is sent (suggest you set F2 message to #C
#T#S#E - callsign + RST + Zone + Enter). When you type (or
accept) the received Zone, followed by Enter, your F3 message
plays (suggest you set it to TU #R#E - sends TU followed by your
callsign followed by Enter). If you're happy to log dupes
(recommended), set your F4 memory to the same parameters as F2.

NOTE: With AUTOCW ON, you should set L(OGONENTER) OFF. You can
toggle AUTOCW ON and OFF with the A command. AUTOCW in ON when
your CW speed, below the logging line, is bright. It's dimmed
when AUTOCW is OFF

Hope to work you all from EI0HQ - IRTS HQ Station - a unique
multiplier on all bands.
