The next version of SD will offer internal keying and
rig control using a single serial port.

I've uploaded an interim version of SD.EXE (V11.0B) to
www.ei5di.com/sd/sdexe.zip, and I'd welcome feedback
and comments. It's working here, using COM1 (on XP Pro)
to key and control an IC746 - using Icom's CT-17 level
converter which is powered separately. At present,
converters which take their power from the com port
will not work.

Here are the pin assignments - they're a straight
combination of the standard pins for keying and rig
control. If you're making up a new lead, don't forget
the transistor/resistor level converters as described
in the manual SD.DOC under "Serial Keying"

                  25-Pin 9-Pin
Keyer
Signal Ground 7 5
DTR - Keying 20 4
RTS - PTT 4 7

Rig Control
XMT - Poll radio 2 3
RXV - From radio 3 2
Signal Ground 7 5

Unfortunately, WinKey and rig control cannot be supported
from a single port because they both use the same pins.
If you have WinKey enabled, you must first disable it with
the WINKEY command.

Finally, use the new SHARECOM (or SHARE) command to enable
port sharing, and then the PORTS command to allocate your
com port for keying and rig control.
