FOC members - I need your help. SD really does support all
Marathon scoring options. Further, they are all tried and
tested in previous Marathons - not being rushed out, untested,
for 2006.
Members using other contest loggers may believe their
preferred software is equally effective. They're probably
wrong, but perhaps they don't know about SD. I need you to
promote SD and encourage others to try it over the next few
days. The FOC mailing list might be a good option.
Here's a summary of what SD offers for the Marathon.
. Tracks continent and country bonus points.
. Tracks 5 and 6-bander bonus points.
. Tracks double QSO and bonus points for G4FOC.
. Identifies callsign when you type a membership number.
SD does this on the fly - with no need to press Enter
or any other key. If you do press Enter, both callsign
and membership number are auto-inserted in the logging
line.
. Lists previous QSOs, and auto-inserts membership number
as you type callsigns - no need to press Enter or any
other key to see this information.
. Lets you log non-members without inflating your score or
bonuses - just enter 0 or any non-numeric characters
instead of membership number.
. Lists 4-banders, 5-banders and "any other"-banders -
using the commands 4BAND 5BAND 6BAND etc. These may be
abbreviated to 1B 2B 3B 4B 5B 6B. The 4-band window is
useful. It shows the stations you've worked on 4 bands
together with the two bands needed in each case to get
your 5 and 6-bander bonuses. The AB (All Band) command
lists all stations worked together with the number of
bands in each case. If you do miss bonuses while using
SD, it'll not be because you didn't know about them.
For information - these commands work with all SD
contest options.
. SDCHECK, the post-contest program, prepares a Cabrillo
log which includes ALL tick-sheet information and an
exact Claimed Score. It REPLACES your tick sheet -
just email it and your entry is complete.
Don't forget that you'll need the corresponding members
reference file FOC.LST (prepared by GM4SID) to benefit
from SD's features. If you don't already have it, email
pokane at ei5di.com. I will send you the download address
- the file is not distributed with SD.
73,
Paul EI5DI
