[SD-User] USB to Serial

Hi all.
My laptop does not have a serial port so I intend to use a USB to Serial 
Converter.
How do I get SD to recognize this as, when trying the PORTS command and 
typing
1 for comm 1, I get the message "there are no Comm Ports on this 
computer". The other option would be parallel keying but having already 
purchased the USB/serial cable, I would like to use
it. At the moment I do not need rig control.  I have looked in the 
archives but could
not find what I'm looking for.
