[SD-User] New computer - CW problem

I have a new computer, a Sony VAIO lap-top with Windows XP, and  
although SD runs satisfactorily in the main
I do have a problem sending CW from the memory.
As the computer has only USB ports I use a Serial to USB adaptor (I  
am not using Win Key). This has worked
well in the past with a HP machine and Windows 98.
Now, using the PORTS command I find only one works (6), but this just  
switches the rig to 'Send'. I cannot key
the rig or, indeed, turn it off.  What am I doing wrong, please  
Paul?  Any suggestions welcome.
