 Thanks for the help guys (both on and off list)

The situation:
V14.24 on the shack computer works fine (that solves the problem)
V14.13 on the other computer has the problem - motto don't use this version
on this computer !!

Roger,

There was a version of SD that had a bug such that entering the hyphen
caused the date field to erase. I think it was back around V10. You might
just have this duff version.
