The IARU HF Championship takes place from 12:00 Saturday
10th 11:59 UTC Sunday 11th July. There are CW-only,
SSB-only and mixed-mode classes on the 6 contest bands
from 160-10m, with HP, LP (150w) and QRP (5w) sections.
Rules at http://www.arrl.org/iaru-hf-championship
SD V15.12 supports this event -
www.ei5di.com/sd/sdsetup.exe.
Select SD's "IARU HF" template.
Work everyone. Exchange 59(9) + ITU Zone (or Society
initials from IARU Society HQ stations).
Mults are Zones by band, but not separately by mode,
and HQ stations by band - in effect, HQ stations are
country mults.
Included with SD are two "HQ Station" reference files,
IARU.REF and IARU.LST. When IARU.LST is loaded with
the LOAD command (or when its contents are added to
whatever .LST file you normally use), HQ station
initials are pre-filled in the exchange (Zone) field.
Here's another feature unique to SD - to see a list of
countries corresponding to each zone, simply type the
zone number in the callsign field (no need for any
other key). Use Esc to clear the field.
UK entrants are encouraged to work the UK HQ station
GR2RS, and apply for individual and club awards.
See http://www.gr2hq.com/awards1.htm.
You'll see there that SDCHECK has been updated to
facilitate applications for these awards. If you
are using pre-V15.00 versions of SD, you can get an
updated SDCHECK from www.ei5di.com/sd/sdcheck.zip.
The World Radio Team Championships take place during
this contest. Some 50 teams, operating under Field
Day conditions from sites near Moscow, are anxious
to work everyone. They are easy to recognise from
their special callsigns - 4 characters beginning with
R3, followed by a number and a letter - see
www.wrtc2010.ru/?id=51&idp=39. There are awards for
working them - www.wrtc2010.ru/?id=51&idp=29.
In addition, the WRTC organisers are anxious to receive
copies of your log, within 6 hours of the end of the
contest, to help with adjudication -
www.wrtc2010.ru/?id=69
For your IARU Contest entry, send your Cabrillo log
to iaruhf at iaru.org. Please mention SD in your soapbox
comments, as this encourages others to try it.

Paul EI5DI
