I have just returned home and edit the  SD.INI , SD_RIGPORT to 0, and Bingo, it worked perfect.

Thanks for the quick reply.
Well, I am out of the Shack in an activity with my daughter and grandaughters. I will try the INI files change upon return. Now, let be briefly answer your questions.
When I touch the SD icon on my  PC I immediately get to choose which template. I, for example, select "FOC QSO Party" template. <enter>.
Then I get the usual entry page with a statement below that reads like this"Winkey is enabled in port 7", but no frequency display.
After that I am supposed to write PORTS <enter>,to select "R" and do the usual port selection, type of radio, etc,  but the cursor square is not present. The page is " frozen" and even the " X" in the upper right hand corner is grey. There is no way to write anything on the screen or delete the page. Then have to use Task Manager to delete SD.

I have my personal Laptop on the side, and transfer
 all the wires and can easily get SD to communicate with my FT1000MP easily.
Please advise.

This may be a rig-control issue between the 1000MP and SD.  The way to
find out is to disable rig-control before starting SD. Edit SD.INI to
set the SD_RIGPORT parameter to zero.  Save the change and then run SD.

At what stage did SD freeze - was it at the logging screen, or earlier?
