"DOMESTIC" PARTICIPANTS in the 10 Meter contest this weekend:

...if we get any of the usual nighttime conditions in the 10 meter contest
we will experience rapid fade on signals...so rapid that I encourage CW
stations to QRQ (speed up)...seems like this is classic on Friday night for
some reason...a typical signal heard will be from
nothing.....to......WW......and then on another burst K3WW.

It is not uncommon at this end to copy the call the first time someone sends
it but not the second time back to back - to make QSOs easier - please send
your call fast once.  That second try to re-enforce your call actually hurts
more than helps.  Same with exchange just keep sending it short and sweet
until you get a QSL.  If you are timed with the fade up you will be quite
copyable...if not no matter how many times you send it is not heard AT ALL.

IF it is on the up side of the fade no problem you're in - if it is on the
down side it will not matter how fast you send or how many times you send it
we won't hear you here in FL.

As always look for weird openings, if you have a rotary antenna watch for
where a signal is peaking from - it may not be anymore near pointing at that
QTH.

Of course you NA guys, when all else fails point your beams South....you
will find someone I am sure!

I am not in Key West but many other Floridians will agree that what W4ZV
posted yesterday is right on - Florida is a good place for the 10 meter
contest!  Please call us...we may have too much noise to be a factor on 160
meters but on 10 - well...see you this weekend!
