Just a few notes on WRTC selections by SECC.

Gary, K9AY.

The deadline for getting our nominations to the WRTC committee
is June 15. There is no advantage to doing it early; I think we
should take all the time necessary to make thoughtful choices.

A "live" meeting June 2 at the Atlanta Hamfest can resolve any
lingering concerns before making our final choices.

My personal criteria include both operating skill and a judgement
of a ham's ability to be a great ambassador for the SECC and all
U.S. contesters. I have met many top contesters and can say that
99.9% of them have the right combination of both traits.

Jeff KU8E makes a good point about considering the best operators
among the less-visible contesters -- Not everyone chooses to compete
as SOHP in the CQWW. Not everyone operates from a superstation.
However, it can be hard to identify the best of these guys unless
you know them personally.

In addition to Jay's list of DX contest results, its pretty easy to
review the results of SS, NAQP and Sprints as a measure of domestic
contest specialists. (IARU in Europe has some similarity to a US
domestic contest, according to some past WRTC participants.)

I'm going to miss Dayton this year. Too bad I'll miss all the
discussion of WRTC team selection. (But not as much as I'll miss
the craziness at the SMC suite.)
