All,

The rule change is something that has been presented to the MSC many times
over the years. It is designed to allow areas like Florida that is limited by
the 175 mile rule, due to the geographic location, to have more members in a
club. There has been a lot of controversy over this issue and I am surprised
it was finally adopted. I was involved with this issue a few years back
during my term as CAC for the SE section.

I think changing the SECC to a section will SUCK. We have become a closer
group of amateurs through the SECC reflector and team efforts in contesting
over the years. I am not ready to throw that out the window because the ARRL
changed the rules. I would like to have the stations that live out of the 175
circle in the SECC, but certainly not at the expense of loosing our
established members, regardless of how much better the club score could do. I
am only one vote but if the SECC wants my scores, the 175 mile rule will stay
in effect.

Lets put this issue to bed and get back to focusing on contesting issues that
are important. The guys leading the contest efforts have done a great job to
promote interest in various contest over the past few months. Lets think of
other new ways to keep the momentum going.

Ya, I live in Georgia,
