[SECC] Atlanta Hamfest

Hey Jeff and all,

>There was not really a big turnout of SECC members. I remember
running...<snip>

Afraid there wasn't much of a turnout period. Probably one of the most
disappointing hamfest I have ever attended in my 30 years of hamming. By
the time we had finished the VE testing portion of our Sateurday ATL
adventure at the 1st United Methodist church, ate an early lunch and got
to the fest, it was pretty much done by 11 am. In fact, no one at the
gate was even taking money (maybe that was a good thing). By 1pm it was
starting to become a ghost town. No wonder they only had forums
scheduled until noon. Given the size of Atlanta and the surrounding area
it truly is a shame it isn't better hamfest. BTW the last Chattanooga I
went to three years ago was better than Atlanta and Huntsville just
frankly kicks your hamfest into the dirt.

On the bright side, you have one of the nicest VE teams in the country
and to all the CaVec gang, thank you for salvaging the day and our 4
hour roundtrip trip from the NC mountains. My son passed his General
written and will be taking his code this weekend locally at our Andrews
VE test session.

Unless things really turn around ATL won't be on my sked next year and I
think we will add Chattanooga or Huntsville back into our hamfest travel
schedule.

73 all and wish I could have met a couple of you down there in ATL land.

  Hi All...

There was not really a big turnout of SECC members. I remember
running
 into K4EA, N4LR, K2UFT, N4NX, AF4QZ, and saw WB4SQ running around. I
was cool
to run into my good friend, Dennis Motschenbacher , K7BV. I know Dennis
from
way back in his KZ5M days. Dennis, Adam, AF4QZ, Jim. N2ZZ (SEC for SC),
and
myself got together for lunch before we all headed home and it was neat
to
 talk contesting and ARRL....
