The North American QRP CW Club (NAQCC) 80M Sprint and the 80M Fox
Hunt will be held almost simultaneously this Tuesday evening, local
time. The Sprint runs from 7:30 to 9:30 pm EST (0130z - 0330z
Wednesday), while the Fox Hunt runs from 8:00 to 9:30 pm EST (0200z -
0330z Wednesday).

John Shannon (K3WWP) of the NAQCC and I anticipate that each event
can benefit from the other while avoiding conflict. We suggest
that 'sprinters' and 'hounds' (fox hunters) consider involving
themselves in both activities. We hope that some NAQCC regulars
might get 'hooked' on fox hunting and that some hounds would
consider another sprint or two.

Information about the Sprint is on the NAQCC website at
<http://www.arm-tek.net/~yoel/contests.html>. The exchange is RST,
SPC, and NAQCC NR (non-members send power in place of nr; e.g., 5W).
Call or answer 'CQ NA'.

Information about the 80M Fox Hunt can be found on QFOX
<http://www.qrpfoxhunt.org>. WA7LNW in Utah and K1RA in Virginia are
your foxes this week, and they will avoid the Sprint 'window' from
about 3557 to 3664 KHz. You may hunt for them anywhere else between
3550 to 3570 KHz. The object is to find and then contact each fox.
Operation is usually split, so the hounds generally call a KHz or so
above the fox's frequency. The exchange consists of RST, SPC, name,
and power level.

So, sprinters, when things get slow, move out of the sprint for a
moment and give the foxes a call and (hopefully) an exchange. They
will appreciate adding your call to their logs. Hounds, after you've
worked both foxes (this is not always easy or even possible!), tune
around the 3560 KHz 'watering hole' and give those sprinters some
much-welcomed contacts. Remember to switch your XIT off when you
do :)

CU this Tuesday evening!
