Well, fellows and gals, some of what Ed said it true. The accident
occured the night we arrived. The doctor was red headed, like Weesie.
Weesie and I had been dating about six months. Ed and his XYL and maybe
Bob Hudson's XYL helped me pick out a watch at a store in downtown
Willemstadt as a gift for Weesie.

Contrary to popular impressions, not all lawyers are litigious. I never
sued or even made a claim against John Thompson or the SEDXC gang. Nor
even whomever it was who closed that door that I had just gone out to
get another load of gear from the car.

The doctor/hospital cautioned me that I would not be permitted to leave
the island of Curacao until my hospital bill was paid. It was about
$15.00. That was cheap even for 1973. They must have had some kind of
socialized or government subsidized medicine in Netherlands Antilles.

I have the logs, but won't dig them out now. I suspect 300 an hour is
an exaggeration, and, if not, it almost surely wasn't on 40 meters. I
only worked 40 meters late in the contest.

Thanks for the compliments, Ed.

73,

John, K4BAI.
