Hello QRPers,
The QRP Fox Hunt Committee is excited to announce the upcoming 2007 –
2008 Winter QRP Foxhunts which will again be held on both 40 meters and
80 meters. If you’ve never tried fox hunting we urge you to give it a
try. It is a FUN weekly event that builds camaraderie within the QRP
ranks and lets you participate as an individual and, if you like, on a
team. Most fox hunters really look forward to the hunts on those cold
North American winter nights. Then, there are the foxes, that great
group of QRPers who volunteer to lose their pelt to the baying hounds.
If you’ve never been a fox before in the hunts we strongly encourage you
to apply to be a fox this year (more on how to apply to be a fox in a
separate email soon). It would be really great to get a wide selection
of US States and Canadian Provinces represented by foxes in these hunts.
The 80 meter fox hunts will be on Tuesday evenings (local USA/Canada
times) starting on Tuesday, October 30, 2007. Each hunt runs for 90
minutes. There will be two foxes on for each hunt and the season will
last 20 weeks. This year there will be NO hunts during Thanksgiving
(USA) week or Christmas week. The last 80 meter fox hunt will be March
25, 2008. *NEW FOR THIS SEASON…. 80 meter Fox Hunt Teams. *
The 40 meter fox hunts will again be on Thursday evenings (local
USA/Canada times) starting on Thursday, November 1, 2007. Each hunt runs
for 90 minutes. There will be two foxes on for each hunt and the season
will last 20 weeks. This year there will be NO hunts during Thanksgiving
(USA) week or Christmas week. The last 40 meter fox hunt will be March
27, 2008.
The local Tuesday and Thursday evening starting times in North America are:
6:00pm Pacific
7:00pm Mountain
8:00pm Central
9:00pm Eastern

_Fox Hunt Teams_
Please start thinking and talking with your QRP friends about forming a
QRP Fox Hunt team. We will call for fox hunt teams soon in another
email. The team competition has always been a lot of fun. This year you
will be able to join a 40 meter team and an 80 meter team. The same team
can compete on each band but must have the same member if the team name
is to remain the same for both bands..

We will use the QFOX Yahoo Group for emails, log posting and general
results emails, etc. If QRP-L is used and you post an email about the
foxhunts on QRP-L _PLEASE_ remember to include the word FOX: in your
subject line so those that are not interested in the fox hunts can
filter out fox hunt email.
