Somehow I missed Paul's comments on cq-contest so thanks to John K4BAI for 
relaying them on.

I agree on Canadian Provinces and that is why I tried to include them in the 
CQ WW 160.  I went a step further and broke apart Labrador and Newfoundland. 
This paid off as there was a world High score from VO2 several years ago.

As to times off, I agree with Paul in most cases.  However, in say the 160 
Contests (CQ or ARRL) making a Single Op stay on all day makes no sense. 
Most USA Top Scorers only worked 28 to 30 hours anyway.

40 meters is going to run into problems even with most of the broadcast 
removed from 7100 to 7200.
RTTY and PSK31 both have grown and taking bandwidth that has been either CW 
or SSB.  having 2 contests running different modes on a weekend is going to 
cause problems.  Bret VR2BG reports that China has commercial stations on 40 
in the SSB and Digital areas.  This makes working from the Far East 
difficult at best.

I am also wondering about the statement made regarding the ARRL SS.  I can 
see getting the results done in say 90 days but I am skeptical of 60 days 
and 30 days is going to be a big stretch.  You have paper logs to deal with, 
homebrew cabrillo that blows the log checker, plus the print deadlines.  CQ 
was able to cut the time to one month or slightly less
to get the results, print them, and mail the magazines.  I wish QST good 
luck...this is a real challange!
