*These reported multipliers are inflated due to a band multiplier having
been applied. I didn't have time to try to back out the band mults this
year.

This Week's Contests:

1. NCCC Thursday night practices. SNS Slow Speed 0200-0225+ UTC Friday
(Thurs local). Limit speed to 18 WPM for first 10 minutes and 26 WPM
thereafter. One kHz QSY rule. 20, 40, 80M CW. 100W maxiumum power.
Exchange: both calls, #, name, SPC.

0230-0259Z. NS Ladder Series. Same rules as SNS except no speed limit
and add 160M band.

2. SARTG WW RTTY Contest. 00-08Z Sat, 16-24Z Sat, 08-16Z Sun. 80-10M
RTTY. Exchange: RST + Serial #.

3. ARRL 10 gHz and Up Contest. 0600 local time Sat to 2400 local time
Sun. 10 gHz and up. Exchange: 6 character Maidenhead grid locator.
(You can get this locator by looking up your call on QRZ.COM and
clicking on "Details." Maximum operating time: 24 hours.

4. Russian District Award Contest. 08Z Sat to 08Z Sun. 160-10M CW,
SSB. Exchange: RS(T) + QSO# or Russian RDA Code. Work only Russian
stations. This is a pretty popular contest among Russians and others
who are working for the RDA awards and can be a lot of fun.

5. QRPARCI Silent Key Memorial Sprint. 15-18Z Sat. 160-10M CW.
Exchange: RST + SPC + QRPARCI# or power. Look around 1810, 3560,
7030/7040, 14060, 21060, 28060.

6. NCJ North American QSO Party, SSB. 18Z Sat to 06Z Sun. 10 hour
maximum for single ops. 160-10M SSB. Mults count per band. Exchange:
Name and SPC for NA stations or just Name for non-NA stations. Work
everyone. 100W maximum power. ACG and SECC are entering teams.
Contact WA1FCN for ACG and K1ZZI for SECC teams and do so right away
since they must be registered before the contest starts. There is a lot
of activity in this one and it can be a lot of fun.

7. New Jersey QSO Party. 10Z Sat to 07Z Sun; 13Z Sun to 02Z Mon.
160-2M CW, Phone. Exchange: # + SPC or NJ county. This one doesn't
seem to bring much activity these days, but it starts before NAQP and
runs after NAQP, so it will be fun if NJ stations participate. Work
only NJ stations, of course.

K1TO, KU8E, and K4ETY were at my house last weekend. K1TO engineered
lowering my tower. The 31-year old guy wires were removed and new guys
were cut. Thanks to KU8E who had ordered a 6M beam, but didn't plan to
put it up until next spring, a five element M2 six meter beam was
mounted above the tribander. It seems to work fine, but I haven't found
any activity on that band yet. The new lower guys were attached. The
old, non-functioning rotator was removed and replace with a new Ham-4.
The tribander and 6M beam rotate fine at the 25' level. K1TO will
return soon and attach the upper guys and we will raise the tower to its
full height and tighten up the upper guys. This will put the tribander
back at about 55' and the 6M yagi will be at about 60'. I am already
enjoying turning the beam again even at a low lever. Of course, it
outperforms the 88' CF at 55' zepp on 20, 15, and 10. The 80M inverted
vee is down until the tower is raised back to full height, but the zepp
is doing OK on 80M. I can't seem to run the amplifier on 80 with it
though. KU8E wired up a new Six Pak for me to use for switching
antennas. This is a major step toward getting my SO2R station going
again. Many thanks to K1TO, KU8E, and K4ETY. 73, John, K4BAI.
