Well sometimes things just fall into place! I spent Tuesday, Wednesday and
Friday on 54' crankup Tower. I installed a new 18' mast, made up of three pipes,
2" aluminum on outside, with a steel pipe inside of it, and another alum. pipe
inside of it, to give me a wall thickness of .400. Installed 2 thrust bearings,
one- 2 feet below KT-36XA and the other 7 feet down in the tower with the rotor
on its new plate 2' below that. The mast is 9 feet above the tower with the beam
now at 60 feet! Even the shunt feed on tower for 160 didn't need any teaking,
flat @ 1.850! Amazing! I was really motivated for this contest. I decide to
operate Low Power SSB to see if I could give ED- N1UR a run for the money! He
always does well from Vermont, yes in New England! So here it goes- 1) Beat his
score from last year. 2) Best low power score ever for me. 3) Will have to wait
to see how he did this year. Totals : 160-5/2/3 80-58/11/21 40-371/21/25
20-777/25/34 15-101/15/16 10-22/6/5. 134/80/104 671,784 pts. 23 hours butt
in the seat! Mark W4SVO
