Hal, I have used the plug in inverter listed here.
It is available from many of the big box stores, Walmart, Best Buy, Frys, etc.
 
It was quiet for me, but it may vary from product to product.
Or the hash was just not on the freq I was on...

There is a small chance Illbe able to be mobile for the GQP this weekend and would like to run the notebook computer – which means buying an inverter.
 
Does anyone know a brand/model number/local store where I can buy one that is RFI quiet?  I’m guessing Best Buy and Harbor Freight have them – but one I brought home from Best Buy years ago I returned after a few minutes of operation.  Noisy bugger!
