This Week's Contests:

1. Straight Key Century Club Weekday Sprint (SKS). 160-10M CW. 00-02Z
Wednesday (Christmas night local time). Use a mechanical key.
Exchange: RST + Name + SPC + SKCC# or power.

2. CWOps Club CWT Mini Tests. Three one hour tests. Wednesday local
date 13Z, 19Z, 03Z (Thursday UTC). 160-10M CW. Exchange: Name + CWOps
# or SPC. Look around 028 kHz on each band.

3. NAQCC Milliwatt Sprint. Wednesday night local date, 0130-0330Z
Thursday. Run 999 milliwatts or less to compete for awards, but anyone
can give out points to the milliwatters. 20, 40, 80M CW. Exchange:
RST, SPC, NAQCC# or power. Double your score for hand key and 1 1/2
your score for bug.
I will work this one and then the last half hour of the third CWT Mini
Test.

4. NCCC NS Sprint Practice. Thursday night local date. 0230-0259Z
Friday. Maximum power 100W. 5/1 kHz QSY rules. 20, 40, 80, 160M CW.
Exchange: both calls, #, name, SPC. Look arou 040 kHz on each band plus
1815 kHz.

5. Radio Amateurs of Canada (RAC) Winter Contest. 24 hours of Saturday
UTC. 160-2M CW, Phone. Exchange: RS(T) + QSO# or VE province or
territory. Work everyone. Extra points for the offical stations with
"RAC" suffixes. This can be a lot of fun and generally there is a lot
of activity.

6. Stew Perry Top Band Challenge. 15Z Sat to 15Z Sun (maximum of 14
hours). 160M CW. Exchange: 4 character Grid Square. (Look up your
own call on QRZ.COM and under "details" you should find the grid square
for your licensed address.

7. Original QRP Contest. 15Z Sat to 15Z Sun. 80, 40, 20M CW.
Exchange: RST + Serial # + power category. Power categories are VLP,
QRP, or MP (up to 20W). There are usually some of the European QRP guys
workable near 14060 kHz. I run 20W MP to try to work them.

8. World Wide Iron Ham Contest. 12Z Sat to 1159Z Sun. 80-10M CW,
Phone, RTTY. Maximum of eight hours per mode in one hour increments.
Exchange: RS(T) + CQ Zone number. Too bad I can't work RTTY as the
contest seems to be named for me.

9. QRP 40M Fox Hunt. Tuesday night local, 0200-0330Z Wed. Two QRP
foxes will be hiding between 7030 and 7050 kHz. Maximum power 5W. Work
only the two Foxes. Exchange: RST, SPC, Name, Power.
Schedule calls for N0UR, Jim in MN and AB7R, Greg in WA to be the two
foxes. Skip should be good to this part of the country.

Also, remember the annual ARRL Straight Key night (SKN). I think it
runs all day on January 1 UTC, so it starts for us at 7 PM Monday night
and runs for 24 hours. Use your hand key or bug and have regular QSOs
with them.

Hope everyone is having a nice Christmas and will have a nice week and
weekend with a lot of QSOs. Happy New Year to all.

73, John, K4BAI.
